Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between a Functional Medicine Health Coach and traditional Western medicine?
Functional medicine practitioners target the root cause of your symptoms.
Traditional medicine excels at prescribing drugs to mask them—often necessary short-term—but long-term, we must uncover and fix what’s truly driving the problem.
What type of experience can I expect when working with a Functional Medicine Health Coach?
A health coach helps you navigate the complexities of nutrition, exercise, and lifestyle choices, making health management accessible and sustainable. These are some of the ways we can help: personalized wellness plans, expert guidance, customized care, root cause healing, holistic approach (the importance of the whole body and the interdependence of its parts), support and accountability with sustainable change.
Are Functional Medicine Practitioners licensed medical doctors?
The short is answer is No. Many medical doctors are not taught the benefits of nutrition, exercise and detoxing your body in medical school. We do not treat, diagnose or cure diseases. We investigate what’s going on in your body to identify road blocks that could be in the way of healing and empower you to take action on your own health journey through building new habits and creating long term changes.
How do you know where to look?
The best and easiest place to start is testing. We partner with EquiLife labs to provide at-home testing that will test minerals, heavy metals, hormones, vitamin levels, gut bacteria, parasites, cortisol levels, metabolic markers, food sensitivities, toxicities in the body, inflammation levels and many more.
Are you certified to be treating people for their symptoms?
Yes! I’m a certified Integrative Health Practitioner trained by Dr. Stephen Cabral in all seven pillars of natural medicine: Ayurvedic Medicine, Bioregulatory Medicine, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Eastern Philosophy, Herbalism, Orthomolecular Medicine, and Functional Medicine.
After healing himself from severe illness, Dr. Cabral spent decades mastering these systems, successfully guiding hundreds of thousands of clients, and now certifies practitioners like me to deliver the same transformative results for you.
I’m also a board certified practitioner from American Association of Drugless Practitioners.
What happens after we test and find out my numbers are off?
Great question! Our partners at EquiLife produce tailored vitamins, minerals and supplements that are GSM certified, 3rd party tested with clinically studied dosages.
Your lab results tell us exactly what to remove (via targeted detox protocols) and what to add (precision nutrition + supplements) so your body gets everything it needs to heal itself. When the obstacles are gone and the deficits are filled, symptoms naturally disappear.
Is that all I have to do to heal?
Testing and supplements will heal your body fast—but my job as your coach is to keep you healthy for life.
We’ll lock in a sustainable plan for nutrition, movement, sleep, stress mastery, fun, and real connection—so you never slide back to the lifestyle that made you sick in the first place. This is how you thrive long-term, naturally.
How much time will all of this take?
Once we have your results and custom plan, most healing/detox protocols run 12–16 weeks.
I meet with clients monthly to track progress, adjust as needed, and make sure you get the life-changing results we’re aiming for.
Is there anything else I need to do to remain healthy after the program has ended?
By the end of the program, you’ll know exactly how to heal and maintain your own health.
We recommend re-testing and a light detox 2× per year. I’m here to guide you through every future round, adjust protocols as your biomarkers evolve, and keep you dialed in with the minimal daily supplements needed to stay thriving.
(I test myself multiple times per year and take daily supplements to replenish my deficiencies.)
What type of costs can I expect for health coaching and lab testing?
All coaching is done via Zoom—little overhead means maximum value for you.
My 4-month program costs a fraction of the average monthly health-insurance premium (Healthcare.gov data), with the option to continue lab-guided coaching as long as you like.
My certifications allow me to offer lab testing kits at a discount of retail values. Also, our partners at EquiLife now accept HSA/FSA payments for needed supplements & protocols.
We do not have to reside in the same state, I can coach anyone in the U.S.!
It’s a win-win.
